The Security Testing Imperative

Scott Register, VP of Security Solutions at Keysight, on Why Testing Matters
Scott Register, vice president of security solutions, Keysight

In today's dynamic environment, with the proliferation of a wide array of different security products and the high chance for misconfigurations, testing security is more imperative than ever, says Scott Register, vice president of security solutions at Keysight.

"The only way to see if all these products have created an exposure, a vulnerability, is to test it," he says. "The odds are your network isn't perfect. There's a vulnerability somewhere and you want to find it before a threat actor does."

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2022, Register also discusses:

  • How the need for testing differs between various environments, such as in manufacturing or healthcare;
  • Testing of internet of things devices, including medical devices;
  • Achieving leadership in testing and measurement.

Register has more than 15 years of experience leading product management and go-to-market activities for global technology companies. Prior to Keysight, he was vice president of product management at Ixia and, before that, he led product management at BreakingPoint Systems. Register also previously led product lines for Blue Coat and managed a suite of products at Check Point Software.
