Traditional server security controls were not built for ransomware, cryptojacking and other modern attacks. Paul Murray of Sophos discusses deep learning, anti-exploit technology and other key elements of the new wave of server defenses.
Murray, product director at Sophos, is particularly concerned about the new generation of threat actors and threats targeting enterprise servers.
"Servers are the bullseye," Murray says. "They're often the target of the determined cybercriminal in many cases, and a successful attack on a server can devastate an organization."
In an interview about server security, Murray discusses:
- The evolution and impact of server threats;
- Why traditional server security tools are insufficient;
- Sophos Intercept X for Server and how it distinguishes itself in the market.
Murray joined Sophos in 2015 to lead Product Management for the Server Protection portfolio within the Enduser Security Group. He has over 15 years' experience of SaaS and hosted service offerings across product management, marketing and design, and is passionate about creating simple solutions to meet complex security needs.
