The New York-based company's Cyber Defense Platform integrates internal and external cyber defense capabilities with proactive and reactive measures to reduce cyber risk, Rosenthal said. The platform allows organizations to set goals and choose capabilities that align with their desired state, and he said this approach aims to address a wider range of cyber threats, including those from the supply chain (see: BlueVoyant Raises $140M, Buys Resilience Firm Conquest Cyber).

"We had all those capabilities, we simply had to integrate them into one offering," he said. "The next step was to provide a cyber risk maturity framework, so that a client can see where they are in terms of cyber defense, set their desired cyber defense state goals, and choose which of these capabilities will get them to their desired state. The way of the future is to be proactive about defense, not just reactive."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Rosenthal also discussed:

  • How BlueVoyant's new platform helps clients prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities;
  • The importance of a cyber risk maturity framework for good vulnerability management;
  • The impact of BlueVoyant's acquisition of Conquest Cyber on their service offerings.

Rosenthal, who co-founded BlueVoyant in 2017, spent the previous six years as chief operating officer of Morgan Stanley, where he reported to the CEO and the board on cybersecurity. He is the co-chairman of Sheltered Harbor, a consortium of major banks, securities firms, industry associations and technology service providers with the mission of preserving systemic confidence in the event of a cyberattack.
