Fighting Ransomware: Best Practices

John Cloonan of Lastline on an Effective Backup Strategy
John Cloonan, head of products, Lastline

Adopting best practices for disaster recovery is the best way to prepare for ransomware attacks, says John Cloonan of Lastline.

For example, a good rule of thumb for backups, to ensure availability of data, is to do three backups in two different media, with one of them offsite, he stresses.

In a video interview at Information Security Media Group's recent Toronto Fraud and Breach Prevention Summit, he also discusses:

  • Educating end-users on phishing risks;
  • Malware defense strategies
  • The role the cloud can play in backups.

Cloonan is head of products at Lastline. He has more than 15 years of experience in information security software development and service delivery.
