Faster Recovery, Less Downtime With AI
Jason Cook of Rubrik on AI-Powered Tools for Streamlining Disaster RecoveryCyberattacks have become increasingly disruptive and often involve encryption or deletion of data that makes systems inaccessible. This creates substantial downtime and complicates the recovery process for organizations, said Jason Cook, assistant vice president of worldwide partner sales engineering at Rubrik.

Recovery is often challenging because identifying what was affected and how to restore it effectively remain difficult, Cook said. Rubrik integrates AI from the outset to address these challenges. Rubrik's technology, including the "Ruby" tool, provides a detailed recovery playbook that outlines the specifics of an attack, including the location of threats and the steps for recovery.
"AI has to be embedded into the technology from the ground up. That way we ensure we are taking the backup copies of the customer data," he said. "We are layering in those AI technologies so that we can start creating insights from the very first backup that's ever taken, because those insights will be very germane to the incident response itself."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at the AI Virtual Summit, Cook also discussed:
- The importance of embedding AI into technology from the start;
- Rubrik's AI-driven solutions to ensure quick and accurate recovery - and minimize downtime;
- How Rubrik uses AI to hunt for indicators of compromise within backup sets.
Cook has spent seven years at Rubrik. He has a diverse background that spans consulting, sales, project management and IT practice. Prior to Rubrik, he was the field CTO for the southeast at Technologent.
