CISO, BlueScope Steel

Catherine Buhler currently serves as CISO of BlueScope Steel. In that capacity, she is responsible for ensuring the protection of BlueScope's sensitive information and assets against cyber threats and extrusion. BlueScope is Australia's largest flat steel production company with over 100 manufacturing plants in 17 countries. Having begun her career as a teacher, she took up her first ICT role in network operations with the National Australia Bank. From there Buhler held a variety of roles across Services Management and Marketing, Business Analysis, and Project and Program Management. In 2014 she took up a senior role in Telstra's Security Operations responsible for setting the strategic direction and leadership of the 40 strong team delivering Vulnerability Services, Secure Coding, PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and ISO/IEC 27001 Compliance and the development and maintenance of Telstra's Information Security Standards.
